Home Away From Home: Pinetop Arizona
For those who don't know, Pinetop Arizona is to South Hampton as Phoenix is to New York. In attempt to flee the hot summers of Phoenix, many valley residents travel up north to the hidden oasis of Pinetop. Since I can remember I have spent my summers enjoying the cool weather and daily showers of the mountains. Since many can't afford to own a home in the White Mountains, here are a list of things to do on a trip up north.
What to do?
Well year round, Pinetop AZ, has tons of outdoor experiences for you to explore. In the snowy winters, Sunrise Ski Resort has tons to offer, from Skiing to Sledding, the mountainous ski park has it all! Also rent from Krissies Ski Rental for a great deal!
Hiking in the outside town of Greer, along the Little Colorado, is beautiful and serene! Bring a extra pair of socks incase your feet get wet! Greer has amazing restaurants and shops to explore as well!
Trail rides along the Sunrise Mountains, are hands down a personal favorite. The serene environment and fresh air is something you can't experience anywhere else in the world.
Where to eat?
Pinetop has amazing food, I know it sounds a little far fetched but the food here is fantastic. The three local golf courses/country clubs have amazing food, White Mountain Country Club (Private), Pinetop Country Club, and Pinetop Lakes Country Club.
Thai Promise, when I tell people that, people are usually hesitant.. I can promise I have had so many amazing Thai dishes around the world and Thai Promise holds its own. **Order the fried green bean app. and drunken noodles... yum!
For Mexican food Los Corrales, offers the mountains best Mexican food, anything you order will be great!!
Charlie Clarks and The Lions Den, are local bars that offer so-so food but really does represent the Pinetop community, you can spot all the locals there on a Friday night!!
